Job description

As Edinburgh Napier University embarks on a new strategic vision, we seek an ambitious Alumni Engagement Executive who will work with and support the Alumni Engagement and Relations Manager to devise and implement a programme of engagement which leverages significant value for the advancement of the alumni, the university, research and students in order to deliver positive impact in communities throughout the world.

An outstanding student experience is at the heart of what we do and what makes us special. That experience doesn't end at graduation and for our alumni team that is the start of a new chapter of engagement. We have some impressive alumni around the world from all 6 schools and are looking for an impressive Alumni Engagement Executive to drive our active involvement with them.

With over 19,500 students and 1500 staff, Edinburgh Napier University is a leading, modern university with a reputation and impact that stretches far beyond our shores. We are an inclusive University with strong links to industry and are clear that it is our 'applied' focus that sets us apart. Our strategy is set around four key pillars of growing our academic reputation; delivering an excellent personalised student experience; internationalising our work; and building innovation, enterprise and citizenship. It is an exciting place to work with a clear growth agenda.

The Role

You will collaborate with colleagues in our schools across the university to develop and implement an engaging alumni programme which encourages, nurtures and sustains lifelong relationships. Whilst supporting a developing global alumni network, you will work to strengthen our connection and relevance to the high proportion of graduates who live and work in Edinburgh and London.

The scope of this role stretches from the engagement of today's students through to alumni who have graduated over past decades. You will help to hone a programme of engagement communications and events which reflect the interests and needs of a diverse and vibrant alumni community, who enjoy and continue to recognise the value-add from being a member of Edinburgh Napier University alumni.

Who we are looking for

You have proven experience in delivering engaging two-way communication and engagement programmes, most likely within either a higher education or membership environment. You understand what alumni are seeking from a relationship with the university and how to demonstrate measurable impact from successfully delivering objectives.

You enjoy meeting people face to face, able to present to or co-host individuals and groups. You have an engaging writing style and are confident communicating through letter, by phone and through the use of social media to engage a target audience.

You are willing to undertake travel to represent the university and develop alumni activity. You are able to recognise and capitalise on emerging opportunities and the ability to manage multiple projects and their deadlines in a professional manner.
