Cardiff Metropolitan University is one of the UK’s most progressive Universities, with around 10,000 students based at its two campuses in Cardiff and a further 9,000 students undertaking Cardiff Met degrees at 16 partner institutions around the world.  The University consistently ranks in the top 12 UK HEIs for graduate start-ups per student and this spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship lies at the heart of the University.  Taught programmes and research are undertaken across five Schools:  Art and Design; Education and Social Policy; Sport and Health Sciences; Management; and Technologies.  The University is part way through an ambitious strategic plan to 2023 that will see it concentrating on enhanced student outcomes, diversification of its portfolio and growth in its overall scale.  Taught programmes have high levels of student mobility, work experience and professional accreditation and the University prides itself on the role that translational research plays in enhancing student engagement and outcomes and in delivering positive social and economic impacts for Wales and the wider world.

A new Deputy Vice-Chancellor is sought as a pivotal member of the senior team, line managing the five Deans of School and working closely with other senior colleagues to ensure that the learning and teaching, research and innovation and global engagement agendas support the delivery of the strategic plan.  The appointee will lead strategic academic planning and performance and will deputise for the Vice-Chancellor across a range of portfolios.  The DVC will play a key role externally in positioning Cardiff Metropolitan as a global university that meets the economic, civic and international needs of Wales and the wider world by responding to student demand, employer need and national and international policy contexts.

Ideal candidates will have proven track records of deliverering innovation and change in higher education, with excellent team working skills and an action-orientated approach to achieving success. We are looking for experienced academic leaders who are able to provide evidence of working collaboratively with colleagues across an institution to improve performance and who have the inspiration, integrity, ambition and commitment to support Cardiff Metropolitan University achieve its full potential.  Candidates should have an earned doctorate and be of Professorial calibre, and able to provide leadership across the breadth of a singular Deputy Vice-Chancellor role.

Bydd y Dirprwy Is-Ganghellor yn chwarae rhan allweddol yn allanol wrth leoli Metropolitan Caerdydd fel prifysgol fyd-eang sy'n diwallu anghenion economaidd, dinesig a rhyngwladol Cymru a'r byd ehangach trwy ymateb i alw myfyrwyr, angen cyflogwyr a chyd-destunau polisi cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol.

Bydd gan ymgeiswyr delfrydol hanes profedig o gyflawni arloesedd a newid mewn addysg uwch, gyda sgiliau gweithio mewn tîm rhagorol a dull gweithredu actif sy'n canolbwyntio ar sicrhau llwyddiant.
