Applications are invited for a teaching fellowship in Criminology to support the delivery of its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes during the academic year 2019/20. The post will involve convenorship of modules, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate taught dissertations, contributing guest lectures and specialist support on a range of topics and support of the core functioning of our degree programmes through providing academic advice and undertaking academic-related administration. The post-holders will report formally to the Head of Department but will work on a day-to-day basis with Directors of Education, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Studies for Sociology, Criminology and Social Research Methods as appropriate. As the academic year has already commenced we expect the postholder to support modules which are already ongoing and potentially undertake project work to enhance areas of the core curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint candidates who can demonstrate an extensive knowledge of and ability to teach:

• Core Criminological Theory
• Social Research Methods (including Qualitative Methods)
• Quantitative Methods

Teaching Fellowships offer the opportunity of valuable experience to those early in their academic careers and the University is keen to maximise the benefit to as many people as possible. The post of Teaching Fellow will involve a significant teaching load, which may extend into the summer period, and there may be related scholarship and the opportunity for administrative duties which relate to education and pedagogy.

The post is for a fixed term only, and it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond this fixed term.

Successful applicants will, ideally be in post by 1st December 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter
