Full-Time, Permanent

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Minorities in Multi-Ethnic Britain in the Department of History.

The Department is seeking to appoint a new colleague at the lecturer level to teach modules to undergraduates and postgraduates that explore the histories of minority ethnic communities living in Britain from c.1700 to more contemporary times. What we really want is an innovative early-career scholar with a commitment to diversifying the ways in which our students engage with British history by exploring it through the crucial lenses of ethnicity and culture.

Your research, accordingly, should fall within the exciting field of historical enquiry that is now increasingly focusing on Britain's multi-ethnic past. You will also contribute to other modules relating to the broad and diverse History programme at Royal Holloway. You will possess a PhD in a relevant topic, teaching experience at undergraduate level (preferably including the design and delivery of your own modules, though this is not essential), and concrete plans for future projects and outputs to offer the Department. We particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
  • Free parking

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
