Job Purpose

Working with colleagues both in the School and in the various support functions, the role will drive the design and launch of BPP’s Digital Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship.  The role is responsible for the educational and commercial success of this key programme and will contribute to the growth and success of the School as a whole.

The role holder has overall responsibility for leading the programme, ensuring a high quality learning experience for all students, and high levels of engagement with the wider academic, professional and regulatory communities.

Job Background

This role is part of the programme team within the School and the role holder will be required to represent the School both internally and externally.

The Digital Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship is expected to grow rapidly in the School and we require a highly motivated and experienced person to lead on the development and delivery of the programme.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Academic Leadership

  • Provide overall academic leadership to the module leader team with the aim of maintaining the highest possible standards in learning, teaching and assessment
  • Maintain and enhance the programme design, delivery and assessment by seeking to continuously improve the programme and the broader student experience
  • Contribute to and where appropriate lead on the process of programme development and validation in liaison with the relevant committees and other stakeholders.
  • Embed appropriate QA processes into the programme, and analyse and respond to all data trends and issues identified

Faculty and Student Engagement

  • Work with the Director of IT Programmes and the student management team to ensure that all students receive appropriate support (for example inductions,  academic and pastoral support) and an excellent academic experience
  • Monitor and influence student engagement and academic progression, ensuring that students are given every opportunity to succeed in their programme
  • Analyse academic achievement, implementing appropriate actions where needed
  • Engage with key stakeholders such as support services, committees and the student body to continually enhance and improve the student experience

Commercial and Operational

  • Maximise revenue opportunities and the reputation of the programme by working with key internal stakeholders, e.g. admissions, international team, marketing and business development
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships and collaborations with international institutions
  • Engage with a range of marketing and business development activities and initiatives to support brand and programme awareness and engagement with BPP
  • Engage with senior management and central functions to promote the vision and strategic growth of the programme/programmes
  • Contribute to annual planning cycle for the school ensuring all programme requirements and resources are clearly communicated
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key central functions (e.g. registry, examinations) to ensure the smooth running of processes
  • Support and enhance processes to ensure that the needs of international students are met, particularly in relation to engagement and compliance

Skills, knowledge and qualifications required for job

  • A level 7 academic qualification and/or significant work experience in a Digital Technology Solutions environment (E)
  • A teaching qualification or Fellowship of the HEA (desirable) or a commitment to achieving either of these through BPP’s PGCLT (Post Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching) or Headway, BPP’s accredited CPD scheme (E)
  • Further academic qualification in a related field (D)
  • General management experience (E)
  • Experience of management of a portfolio of products or services (D)
  • Project Management experience (D)
  • Experience of management in an academic environment (D)
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment (D)
  • Ability to handle and manage operational complexity (E)
  • Ability to make reasoned evidence-based decisions (E)
