The Opportunity

Center for Photonics and Quantum Technologies (CPQM) of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Moscow, Russia) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a tentative starting date of January 2020 (or thereafter).

In order to foster cutting-edge research in Quantum technologies, CPQM is looking for an internationally recognized candidate with a profound background in quantum many-body physics. The new professor will perform theoretical and numerical research of large quantum systems and their dynamics, adiabatic quantum computation, develop efficient numerical approaches to quantum many-body simulation. He/she will provide theoretical support of existing CPQM experimental research in quantum materials and establish intra-CREI collaboration in the field of quantum-inspired optimization algorithms with application to machine learning and neural networks.

Qualifications

Candidates with substantial expertise in theoretical physics, quantum many-body theory and numerics, and quantum transport are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in physics. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output at the international level that demonstrates potential for independent sustainable research, innovation and teaching activities leading to peer‑reviewed publications in top-level international journals/conferences and excellence in teaching and innovation.

Our Offer

It is expected that the appointed candidate will take an active part in Skoltech and CPQM strategic activities in Quantum technologies research and educational infrastructure. Faculty duties include teaching at the graduate level, advising student and innovation projects, and conducting competitive research in quantum many-body physics at the level of excellence.
