Job description

The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Music/Audio Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of workshop facilities at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting our music and recording studio facilities within The Media Factory.

Duties will include the set up and support of recording studios, music project studios and ensemble rooms providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and students in the use of these facilities. Although the successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be the coordination and running of the music resources, the successful candidate will also work as part a team of performing arts technicians  and on occasions will be expected to work in an audio technical operator capacity on assessed live performances supporting students from across a broad range of course disciplines.

The role holder will also be required to coordinate and undertake installations, maintenance and configuration of equipment and ensure appropriate procedures and practices are followed. You will need to be a practical person with a high level of competence in the use and support of a wide range of audio equipment and techniques, backed up with great customer service skills. The ability to adapt your knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subject disciplines we support would be a distinct advantage. You must also have good verbal and written communication skills.
