Are you an experienced and influential academic with the proven ability to carry out teaching and research in stroke care? Do you have an excellent research track record, proven success obtaining funding and the vision and drive to tackle new challenges? We are seeking a lecturer with expertise and particular interest in stroke care to take a leading role in the existing team of applied health researchers and increase grant income from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and other funding bodies. It is anticipated that the successful candidate is likely to have expertise in a particular aspect of methodology relevant to stroke care, for example, qualitative approaches, behaviour change or intervention development. The post will be within the Academic Unit of Elderly Care and Rehabilitation, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Leeds with co-location in Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) at Bradford Royal Infirmary. 

You will contribute to the development and leadership of a multi-disciplinary research programme and foster collaborative relationships within the University and with NHS partners.  This post therefore represents an exciting opportunity for an individual keen to contribute to the strategic development of an established Academic Unit.

The Academic Unit has a large portfolio of stroke research encompassing national and international collaborations and a range of methods including Cochrane Reviews, quantitative and qualitative exploration. A productive collaboration with the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research produced two of the largest ever stroke rehabilitation trials: evaluation of a carers training programme (TRACS) and a model for post-discharge care (LoTScare). Ongoing work includes an NIHR Programme Grant focused on improving longer-term outcomes for stroke survivors and their carers; and exploration and evaluation of strategies to reduce sedentary behaviour. All the work is supported by an active patient group.
