Are you an ambitious researcher with experience of manufacturing textile materials for physical testing and characterisation? Are you interested in applying knowledge of fibre science, textile manufacturing and textile testing to address industry challenges?
Working in collaboration with the academic team and an industry partner, you will design experiments, manufacture and characterise the performance of a variety of textile assemblies used in consumer products. The research will involve design of experiments, lab-scale manufacture of fibre and textile structures using a variety of processes, extensive physical testing of textile samples and data analysis. You will contribute to building fundamental understanding of the structure-property relationships governing product performance. The project is led by the Textile Technology Research Group in the School of Design and involves collaboration with an industrial partner.
With a BSc/MSc in textile technology and a PhD in textile technology or materials science, you will have research experience of manufacturing textile assemblies, characteristing their physical properties using a range of different methods, and have expertise in statistical data analysis. You will have proven ability to work independently, and as part of a team and have a track record of successful delivery.
