The Department of Government and Public Administration of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for position of Associate/Assistant Professor in Political Science and Public Administration. The department is currently comprised of 18 full-time staff members and offers programmes leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees. Faculty members actively engage in research with particular focus on comparative politics, public administration and policy, international relations, international security and studies of the Greater China regions. The required area of specialization is public administration, broadly based to include sub-areas of public policy, public finance, smart city management, e-government, government/society interactions, new technological innovation, and subjects related to government policy-making. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field and a proven record of publication in high caliber international journals and presses. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and quantitative research and scholarship and documented excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must be able to lecture and publish research in English. Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in July 2020.

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP800,800 (approximately USD98,860) for Assistant Professor and from MOP985,600 (approximately USD121,680) for Associate Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
