This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with Higher Education or Further Education experience to play a pivotal role managing and developing high quality learning development opportunities within a pioneering world leader in creative communications education. 

Academic Support is crucial to enhancing the student experience, retention, continuation and attainment as well as student satisfaction, and contributes to academic developments in the College. With your up-to-date expertise in learning development, understanding of arts disciplines, curricula and pedagogies, and the modelling of inclusive practices, you will ensure this happens.

Through your leadership and coordination of academic support, you will enable all students to become confident independent learners and to fulfil their academic potential, from FE through to PhD level. 

You will also provide professional leadership to the Academic Support Team, taking responsibility for the management and development of its staff, implementing service standards and developing common processes standardised on good practice.

Your profile

The ideal candidate will possess: 

  • A relevant first degree and recognised teaching qualification and/or HEA accreditation   
  • Substantial experience developing and delivering learning development in a HE and/or FE setting 
  • Experience of Art, Design and/or Humanities education  
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence
  • Experience overseeing the academic progression of a large number of students
  • Experience introducing and managing improvement initiatives
