Postdoctoral Research Associate – Electrophysiology
We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Neuroscientist to the King’s College London Dementia Research Institute (DRI), funded by the Medical Research Council, Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK – This is a national consortium focused on cutting-edge dementia research. The post-holder will be involved in developing an independent programme of neurodegeneration research as part of a wider network of centres.
The primary research interest of the group involves understanding the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and identify therapeutic candidate(s) for synapse health. Evidence suggests that changes to the synaptic function and synaptic connectivity are severely dysregulated by aberrant amyloid aggregation and hyperphosphorylation of tau protein and other AD-mediated pathogens. These research projects therefore center on trying to understand how such AD-mediated pathogens impact on synapse health in the hippocampus.
The role will involve electrophysiology in brain slice, optogenetics and multi-photon confocal microscopy.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract to 31 August 2022.
This is a full-time post.
The selection process will include a panel interview and 7 minutes presentation.
