Recent clinical trials have revealed new classes of immune-based cancer therapies that target key pathways of the immune and immune-interacting tumour microenvironment. Either alone or in combination with conventional chemotherapeutics, these interventions have led to unprecedented results in patients with previously untreatable advanced disease. The future development of this class of agents for the large proportion of cancer patients who do not respond to current immune therapies demands more complex ex vivo models in which to test new biotherapies.
We are seeking an interactive and self-motivated immunologist/biologist to generate ex vivo organoids and apply a variety of approaches (including multimodal imaging including multiphoton imaging Fruhwirth, et al., 2011 Chemphyschem 12: 442-61 and FLIM/FRET of immunoreceptor dimer, Monypenny J, et al., 2018 Cell Rep 24: 630-641 & Claus J, et al., 2018 eLIFE 7) in order to facilitate the development of novel immune-oncology treatments. The post holder would be expected to collaborate with tissue biobank collaborators and imagers from both UCL and KCL particularly the exosomal group within the Richard Dimbleby Research Lab and Comprehensive Cancer Imaging Centre.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 27 months. This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent. The selection process will include a panel interview, a presentation. This post closes on 10 November 2019.
