The School of Engineering is seeking the appointment of three academics at a level of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to play leading roles in advancing the School’s research in Civil Engineering. The successful candidates will also be expected to generate external research income and contribute to teaching across existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School, including occasional teaching overseas. 

The successful applicant will have a proven track record of research, outstanding communication skills and the desire and ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A willingness and ability to develop new courses and contribute to the development of a new MSc in Civil Engineering is essential, as is a willingness to teach overseas occasionally. 

The appointee will have a PhD degree in a Civil Engineering subject area and will likely have significant experience as a post-doc or independent researcher. S/he will have research expertise and experience and interest in one or more of the currently maintained research strengths or in any other civil engineering field. 

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£41,526 - £49,552 per annum) for appointments made at Lecturer level and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. For appointments made at Senior Lecturer level, salary will be paid at the appropriate point on the Grade 8 salary scale (£52,559 – £59,135 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience. 

Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 3 year probation period.
