Applications are invited for a Permanent (Commencing September 2020) post of a Associate Professor/Professor in Gender Studies within UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice.

The UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice seeks to appoint an Associate Professor/Professor with a distinguished international research and teaching record in Gender Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to provide the academic vision, innovation and strategic leadership that will further develop a vibrant teaching, learning and research programme in Gender Studies, UCD.

The successful candidate will have an established reputation in research and teaching with a developed specialism within the field of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies. The successful candidate will have experience of innovative pedagogical practices and will contribute to the design and development of core graduate and undergraduate programmes in Gender Studies. The post holder will be involved in the supervision of graduate students and post-doctoral posts and will provide leadership in both programme design and research scholarship.

Gender Studies in UCD is the most established programme of its kind in Ireland and attracts students from a range of different backgrounds both nationally and internationally. Gender Studies in UCD aims to prepare its graduates to think, act and write critically about contemporary issues drawing on interdisciplinary and inter-cultural scholarship. They should have the capacity to apply a critical framework to understand and contribute to processes of social change in an increasing complex, divided and globalised world. Gender Studies in UCD is committed to the highest level of qualitative and quantitative research and scholarship on gender and sexualities based on developing partnerships and collaborations with statutory and civil society organisations in Ireland and within international research communities.

95 Associate Professor Salary Scale: €69,865 - €97,595 per annum

OR

95 Professor salary scale: €86,119 - €114,236 per annum

Appointment will be made on the appropriate scale and point on the scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
