Background
The Quality and Standards Office (QSO) plays the lead role enabling the University to meet its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students and Professional Regulatory and Statutory Bodies.  

The QSO is responsible for the approval and review of all award-bearing programmes and has oversight of annual monitoring of all programmes, including collaborative provision and distance learning. It plays an active role in academic governance and quality management and enhancement.

The office undertakes the administration of all matters relating to external examiners. It assists with the implementation of quality assurance policies and procedures to reflect the requirements of external agencies, such as the Office for Students.

The Role
 
The University is undergoing a major change programme to implement new structures for the setting and maintenance of academic standards and the management of the quality assurance and enhancement of the student experience to ensure that arrangements are based on a strategy of continuous improvement.  
 
An essential aspect of this role will be to support the University to deliver this change programme both internally and with collaborative partners.  

The post holder will be expected to engage widely across the University to play a leading role in the implementation of these new arrangements.  They will, thereafter, take a central role in ensuring that these changes are embedded and sustained and that a culture of continuous improvement drives the approval and review of programmes. They will ensure that data-informed evidence is central to the University's mechanisms for delivering consistency of practice and a first class student experience across the University, and its collaborative partners.  The post holder will be expected to be proactive in the development of effective systems and processes.
 
The Person 

 
The post holder will be first degree qualified (or equivalent) and must be able to demonstrate an extensive knowledge of quality assurance within the HE Sector.
 
The post holder will have demonstrable experience of leadership and management within a complex organisation.
