York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.
Significant investment in our campus and facilities, the development of forward-thinking new partnerships and an enhanced range of contemporary courses have helped make us one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K. over recent years.
Now we are building on that achievement, with a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset and investing in enabling this expertise to thrive.
All of this takes place at the heart of beautiful York, recently named by the Sunday Times as the best U.K. city to grow up in because of the quality of education, culture and community spirit that we form part of.
We welcome applications for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing to join the well-established and thriving team in the York Centre for Writing in the School of Humanities at York St John University. Experience of writing or teaching in at least one of the following areas is essential: scriptwriting, prose fiction, creative nonfiction or the creative industries. Scriptwriting is a particular priority at the moment. We are already very well-served by poets. Duties would involve undergraduate teaching at all levels, contributing to postgraduate courses at MA and MFA level and potentially PhD supervision. We value applicants who can work collegiately as part of our very cohesive team. Candidates should be able to demonstrate ongoing commitment to practice and/or research.
If you would like to apply for the post at Senior Lecturer level please refer to Section 6.3 of the below 'Senior Lecturer criteria' document and provide evidence within the 'supporting statements' section of your application to demonstrate that you meet the requirements.
