JOB PURPOSE:
Perform technical engineering responsibilities applying standard planning, design and engineering principles in the construction, modification, operation, maintenance and utilities servicing of university facilities.

CORE DUTIES*:
Facility Operations Engineering

  • Perform technical engineering work, such as preparation of schematics, drawings, and specifications
  • Assist with the development of building and control systems lifecycle through a systems engineering approach, this includes: setting requirements, developing specifications, supporting design implementations, testing, integration, commissioning, and documentation processes.
  • Participate in and contribute to facilities operations building review meetings and presentations.
  • Develop, document, monitor, and analyze new and existing operations initiatives
  • Participate and contribute to the development of energy consumption model for the site utilities
  • Assist Facilities Operations with site analysis and proposal recommendations
  • Advise on feasibility and costs, working with outside contractors, public utility contacts, Stanford utilities groups, and Stanford user groups
  • Serve as a SRWC Operations technical resource for routine inquiries and request
  • Assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics analysis of building and controls subsystems

Facilities/Construction Project Management

  • Support and contribute to project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of necessary documentation for the planning, procurement, design, and execution of projects including development of requirement documents, and design submittals.
  • Assist with permitting and inspection activities, permit applications, agency coordination, etc.
  • Maintain design and construction documents including safety documentation, cost and schedule reporting, nonconformance reports, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare technical plans and reviews for campus projects
  • Assist with project activities: coordinating with technical team members, review internal draft materials, track project status, handle internal and client communications
  • Represent SRWC Operations on specific project teams and review committees

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline or other appropriate specialty, or combination of education and work experience meeting the CA Engineer-in-Training requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate strong and collaborative relationships inside and outside the organization.
  • Proficiency with standard desktop applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, project management tools and resources.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with engineering software related to assignment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds,
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
  • May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA.
  • May working at heights 4 - 10 ft.
