The University of Otago invites applications for the position of Professor of Management in the Otago Business School.

The University of Otago is a research-intensive university with a long history of excellence. Business education has been offered at the University of Otago since 1912. The Department of Management is part of the AACSB- and EQUIS-accredited Otago Business School. The Department has an international reputation for research and teaching excellence. It was ranked as the best Management department in the country in results released in May 2019 by New Zealand's research assessment exercise known as the Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF).

The Role

The successful applicant is expected to provide leadership at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including teaching and academic programme development. It is also expected that the Professor of Management will maintain an excellent individual international research profile and engage with the business and professional community.

The appointee will be supported through an extremely collegial academic environment, an active and dynamic research culture, and by efficient professional services across the University.

Skills and Experience

Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in research, teaching, curriculum development and professional activities.
  • Demonstrated evidence of high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • A record of eminent scholarly research and publication with evidence of a substantial international reputation and an active research agenda.
  • A strong commitment to developing collaborative working relationships with colleagues.
