Job description

Coventry University is seeking to appoint a Senior Company Secretarial Assistant into the Company Secretariat within the Office of the Group Registrar & Chief Governance Officer.

We are lookingfor a dynamic, effective and credible individual to help us on the next stage of our plans for growth. The team is responsible for managing and developing the Group's governance framework in a highly regulated and competitive higher education environment.

The University is an exempt charity, and has a group structure that includes academic and commercial subsidiaries, and a community interest company. It also sponsors a multi-academy trust. Consequently, knowledge and experience of governance and company secretarial duties in different sectors would be advantageous.

The post holderwill be responsible for acting as the University's point of contact for the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor, attending events and preparing briefing notes as required, and so written and oral communication and relationship-building skills will also be of particular value in the role.

Coventry University was named the UK's top modern university in 2017 in both the Guardian University Guide and the Complete University Guide. We have also been recognised as 'University of the Year for Student Experience' in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. We provide "Gold" rated teaching and learning (Teaching Excellence Framework, 2017) to over 29,000 students at campuses in Coventry, London and North Yorkshire in all academic disciplines - from health, business and performing arts to industrial design, engineering and computing.

We deliver our Corporate Plan through a commercial and enterprising outlook, underpinned by robust and transparent governance, which keep us at the forefront of teaching & learning, internationalisation and research.
