SENIOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM ASSISTANTBrain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), to be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of BCS undergraduate programs and for managing curriculum support for both the undergraduate and graduate programs.  Will serve as the primary resource to the department’s undergraduate students and to faculty in all matters pertaining to the undergraduate program; provide administrative oversight for BCS majors and the undergraduate program, including onboarding students, re-orienting returning students, arranging BCS faculty advisor assignments, communicating graduation requirements, tracking progress towards the undergraduate degree, and connecting students to departmental and other MIT resources/offices as needed; review all undergraduate degree audits and approve degree applications; advise undergraduates on subject offerings, GIRs, and major and minor program requirements; represent BCS at Institute undergraduate administrator meetings, CAP meetings, and other meetings/events; and provide administrative support to the academic administrator in all aspects of the undergraduate program and with special projects. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED five years’ administrative or related experience in student services or similar position; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail; good judgment and discretion with confidential material; self-motivation; ability to work independently, follow through on responsibilities, and interact effectively with a diverse group of people; thorough understanding of own work and how it impacts operations outside of own work unit; and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.  Seek someone with a strong interest in working with students and faculty and a desire to work in a team-oriented environment.  PREFERRED:  experience using FileMaker Pro and web publishing technology, ability identify and learn new programs/software as needed, bachelor’s degree, and MIT or other university experience.  Job #18085-6
