The School for Mathematics and Statistics is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Research Fellow to lead cutting-edge research in statistical approaches in the broad context of Data Science. This includes both theoretical and computational methodological development with the potential for interdisciplinary collaborations.

This position offers the ideal candidate a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting and dynamic research program. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the recently launched Data Science at the University of Melbourne (DatUM) initiative partnered between the School of Mathematics and Statistics and School of Computing and Information Systems. The position is housed within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and will report to Professor Howard Bondell, whose research focuses on a wide variety of methodology and applications.

The position offers a rare opportunity to join a growing Data Science initiative, and allows for both a multi-disciplinary environment as well as the development of an individual research agenda.

To be considered for this position you will have a PhD or equivalent research higher degree in statistics or related area. You will also have strong computer programming skills in R and a demonstrated aptitude for research.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years.
