With substantial investment from the HEFCE Catalyst scheme in 2014, the University of Lincoln recently opened the Joseph Banks Laboratories, housing new research and training facilities for the Schools of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Geography, to complement the established (and recently extensively enhanced) teaching laboratory facilities in the Janet Lane Claypon Building.

The University is seeking to employ an experienced chemistry technician to assist with the running of a chemistry / analytical chemistry laboratory to support undergraduate practical teaching and postgraduate research. The post will be based in the Janet Lane Claypon Building on the Brayford campus, with a requirement to work in the nearby Joseph Banks Research Laboratories when needed to support research and commercial lab work.

You will have good experience in synthetic chemistry and of working in a teaching laboratory environment. You will be part of a wider team of technical staff and will work with the existing senior technician in chemistry. The role involves liaising with academic staff to discuss requirements, preparing solutions and equipment, and demonstrating in class to deliver a range of chemistry focussed practical classes to undergraduate students. You will have a good understanding of the science behind the practical work, be comfortable and experienced working safely with and maintaining specialist lab equipment. You will need to be flexible in the hours and locations worked and you will be part of a larger team, supporting colleagues in other areas where required.

The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, beautiful, safe and friendly city. The Schools provide a stimulating environment for academic research, and are based in high quality, newly developed facilities.
