About the opportunity 

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) wishes to make an appointment to strengthen its teaching and research capacity in Livestock Behaviour and Welfare. SOLES has a program of teaching in Agriculture and Animal and Veterinary Bioscience, and the appointment will lead the teaching of livestock behaviour and welfare together with coordinating a program of industry placements for students. It is expected that the candidate’s research background and future agenda will be in the field of livestock behaviour and welfare. In terms of teaching they should have experience in the same areas in addition to delivery of student industry placement programs.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Livestock Behaviour and Welfare who possesses experience in the following areas:

  • A PhD in a closely-related field, with a demonstrated track record of publications in the field of livestock behaviour and welfare
  • Deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to develop trials and evaluate innovative practices in teaching and learning with a view to improving educational outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience co-ordinating a unit of study with an animal behaviour and welfare focus and an emphasis in livestock

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) brings together researchers in the life, earth and environmental sciences to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching and build new infrastructure to support and enhance capacity in research and teaching.
