Religious Literacy Project
Harvard Divinity School invites applications for an instructor or lecturer for one course for a part-time adjunct academic appointment during the spring semester 2020 (January to May 2020). The exact title of the appointment will depend upon the academic qualifications of the finalist. Candidates should be competent in the appropriate research languages relevant to this field, and should be familiar with forms of analysis that address race, gender, and social location. The holder of this position will teach HDS3304 “Religious Literacy and the Professions II: Journalism and Media Entertainment" at Harvard Divinity School. This course aims to place students in practical internships in the summer of 2020. Demonstrated experience in working with professionals to broker internship opportunities is preferred.
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications: (1) completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred), (2) prior experience teaching at the graduate level, and (3) sensibility to a multi-religious, diverse student body. Command of the principles of religious literacy advanced by HDS’s Religious Literacy Project, and academic and practical expertise in the fields of Journalism and Media Entertainment are required. Candidates should demonstrate experience and excellence in teaching. Previous publications in the area of the appointment are desirable though not required.
