Northumbria University School of Design is seeking to appoint outstanding scholars to join our world leading team in Fashion Design, Industrial Design and Communication Design. We are particularly interested in scholars with research expertise in Sustainable Fashion, Materials and Textiles, Industrial Design and in Communication Design, who work across disciplinary boundaries and are influential champions of human communications, interactions and experiences.  

Northumbria University has an international reputation for design research and innovation. We recognise the potential of design to deliver new products, services, and experiences that transform ways of thinking, making, and living in the future. Our staff have pioneered original approaches for evolving design research practices, especially emerging technologies and craft, co-creation and participatory design, and responsible innovation. Candidates will be an inspirational teachers, committed to the development and enhancement of the School’s research agenda and global reputation. You will actively contribute to maintaining existing and forging new links with industry, external organisations and the education sector in the UK and internationally. 

Our programmes are interdisciplinary in nature and therefore candidates will be able to demonstrate their comprehensive understanding of the context of you discipline others across design and how this contributes to society, culture and the wider technological and economic landscape.
