The School of Risk & Actuarial Studies is one of eight schools within the UNSW Business School. About the role

  • Lecturer $107,210 - $126,386 plus salary supplementation, 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • Senior Lecturer $130,216 - $149,394 plus salary supplementation, 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • 5 Years Tenure Track

Applications are invited for the appointment of 2x Lecturer/ Senior Lecturers (Level B/C academic) with an outstanding record of research, scholarship and education, and demonstrated leadership and research expertise in Risk and Actuarial Studies.

While this position indicates a 5-year appointment, it may convert to a continuing role.

A Level B academic (Lecturer) is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.

A Level C academic (Senior Lecturer) is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.

The roles of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will report to the Head of School, Risk and Actuarial Studies.

A successful Level B or C candidate will also be considered for nomination for a UNSW Scientia Fellowship.

Appointments are made on a Convertible Tenure Track contract. The initial engagement is for 4 years fixed term with the possibility to convert to continuing tenure. The program also allows flexibility to take research breaks to do other study, take an industry engagement or follow other interests. We are also open to part time appointments.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD degree in actuarial studies or a related business discipline (or expected to complete their degree requirements by 2019).
  • Expected or demonstrated excellence in publishing in leading (e.g. A/A* or equivalent) actuarial or related disciplinary journals.
  • Experience in teaching actuarial professional courses will be an advantage.
  • Expected or demonstrated ability for lecturing, teaching innovation, and curriculum development in risk and actuarial studies at both undergraduate and/or postgraduate level is essential.
