Nanoforce Technology Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Queen Mary University of London, set up in 2005 as a response to a TSB/LDA funding award. The aim of the company is to facilitate and increase interactions with industry around materials science.

Nanoforce is an open-door industry-facing research and development company committed to delivering state of the art material solutions based on advanced processing technologies. The company aims to enhance the quality and performance of customers’ products by providing technical solutions in competitive timescales. It is driving innovation in the advanced materials sector through continuous development of industry-leading expertise, high value added products and integrated services.

About the role

The Board of Directors is seeking a CEO to take the company into its next stage, expanding the remit of Nanoforce to a wider range of engineering applications, and driving new business and financial growth. We are seeking an experienced leader who is able to oversee the day-to-day management of this small company and generate and sustain a long term strategic business plan.

The CEO will lead the Company’s response to a 2017 review which identified the need for the company to proactively seek new business, both externally and internally, expanding the services that the Company can offer to other areas within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, such as robotics, bioengineering and energy research.

The CEO will have oversight of all of the Company’s activity, from creating marketing strategies to engaging with industry partners. They will be supported by a small Board of Directors with a diverse skill set, including an external Chair. Staff employed by or seconded to Nanoforce will report to the CEO

The post is a part-time (28 hours per week), fixed term appointment of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal, with a starting salary of £54,840 - £62,415 per annum (FTE), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave (FTE), pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Tier 2 certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.
