Central in developing a culture of critique is our studio-based teaching approach combined with a rigorous program of design studies and research. Our collaborative approach to design resepcts Indigenous standpoints, diverse cultures, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to a continuing Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor Design Studies (Service Design) position, with expertise in Service Design. In this role you will deliver high quality teaching in subjects across both the undergraduate and post-graduate level. You will collaborate with others and actively pursue your own research, fostering productive links with other scholars on the global stage. 

In the initial 3 years of appointment, you will take on the role of Director Postgraduate Courses in Design Studies. Aligning with the UTS2027 strategy of Lifetime Learning, in this role you will lead the development and implementation of a strategy for the growth of Postgraduate offerings for the School of Design through curriculum design for the Master of Design, new short courses and micro-credentials.

About You

As an experienced academic leader you will have strong, well-developed interpersonal, communication and team building skills, as well as a capacity for strategic thinking and decision making. You will also have:

  • Knowledge and experience of teaching interaction, service or social design at a postgraduate level within a university including curriculum design
  • Knowledge of academic research in the fields of interaction, service or social design.
  • Demonstrated track record of scholarly publishing in the field of design, design research or design studies.
  • Demonstrated experience in or capacity for academic leadership at the tertiary level and in supporting senior staff in policy and strategy development and execution, or equivalent experience in a professional environment.
  • Evidence of engagement and participation with international networks

Please note that the Associate Professor role requires a higher level of experience in all aspects of a balanced academic’s role.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range:

Senior Lecturer (Level C) $126,402- $145,162 p.a.

Associate Professor (Level D) $152,357 - $167,017 p.a.

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
