IT ADMINISTRATOR, Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE), to be responsible for a wide range of applications, services, and solutions that support NSE staff, students, and faculty in furthering their academic, research, and business objectives. Will provide daily technical support to a diverse user base of technical and non-technical end-users, while supporting a wide range of technology and services. Responsibilities will include initiating, planning, and executing projects to improve support services; planning, installing, and supporting a variety of systems and services, including printing services, conference room AV, Mac and PC desktop systems, Unix/Linux systems, cloud-based services (AWS, GCP), and hallway display systems; diagnosing and resolving complex end-user issues; protecting department end-users’ data; building relationships with users to identify technical needs and recommend solutions and best practices; reviewing trends to identify recurrent problems and finding solutions; providing input to department strategic planning; providing basic level training on new tools and software; and establishing and documenting processes, policies, and procedures.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a technical computing field; at least five years’ experience supporting hybrid Window and Macintosh environments; troubleshooting knowledge and familiarity with Mac OS 10.9 through 10.12 Mohave and Windows 7 through Windows 10; strong technical diagnostic skills; advanced-level knowledge of IT standards/policies; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to convey technical information in non-technical terms, multi-task, and prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work through attention to detail; knowledge of service management principles, processes, and tools; attention to detail; and ability to operate independently and on a team.
