About the role

You will work closely with the Chief Investigator on an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery project on "image-based sexual abuse". The project is entering its final year of funding and the Research Assistant will be employed to assist primarily (although not exclusively) with: legislative analysis (including case analysis in Australia and internationally); updating databases and literature tables; extracting data on reporting, prosecutions and convictions; assistance with public events; administrative tasks (such as booking travel and accommodation for members of the team); assistance with reports, journal articles and other outputs; assistance with updating content on the project website; and other tasks as directed.

About You

You will have demonstrated knowledge of the Australian legal system, including both civil and criminal law and a good understanding of, or experience in, research or work related to gender-based violence. You will also have experience in working on sensitive or difficult subject topics, including being familiar with strategies to counteract vicarious trauma. Evidence of research outputs including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the law and/or gender-based violence field will be highly desirable. Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders and industry partners, will be imperative to your success in this role.

Qualifications

Mandatory: Honours or postgraduate qualification in Law, Legal Studies or Criminology.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
