PROJECT MANAGER, MIT Open Learning-Playful Journey Lab, to join the Playful Journey Lab, a group focused on developing playful ways to support future-ready skills through innovative assessment and learning designs. The lab’s approach to assessment is student-centered, authentic, and performance-based, empowering learners to take ownership of their own learning pathways and supporting teachers to build capacity in assessment design. Members of its interdisciplinary team collaborate on designing, implementing, and researching assessment tools in order to create tools for lifelong learning experiences and spends time as a community wrestling with big problems in education and exploring new ideas for the future of assessment and learning. Responsibilities will include gathering requirements and working with project leads to understand the phases of design and research; creating project plans including milestones and deliverables and holding team members accountable for their responsibilities and timeline; continually assessing the scope of the project and working with project leads to adjust expectations and staff time as needed; applying team-building methods to ensure smooth collaboration; managing data collected during research phases to ensure consent, privacy, and accuracy of data; and assisting with project work such as playtesting, giving demos and presentations, interacting with research participants, etc.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; two years’ related experience, including two managing creative projects; excellent problem-solving, team-building, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to pinpoint and resolve miscommunications; and background or interest in education technology, learning science, working with schools, etc. Must be able to learn and change course quickly and be comfortable working with and understanding the needs/perspectives of developers, academics, and educators.
