The Role

We are seeking a suitably qualified postdoctoral fellow to be part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS) project team within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Macquarie University.

The successful candidate will conduct independent research and work with the group of Professor Gavin Brennen on the topic of Noise Resilient Quantum Simulations. The project will include work on: non-unitary quantum cellular automata, and multi-scale holographic quantum simulations. The theory will include quantum control of discrete and continuous variable systems with an eye for NISC era and beyond simulations in systems such as trapped atoms, photonic networks, and superconducting arrays.

The MQ Department of Physics and Astronomy has three main research areas: Photonics including Biophotonics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Quantum Physics. Essential

  • Postgraduate qualifications (PhD level or equivalent) in physics or a relevant discipline.
  • Proven record of research in quantum information theory, especially in quantum simulation and computation as demonstrated by international reputation, research publications and presentations, external research grants, or other relevant indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research collaboratively and independently.
  • High-level communication, inter-personal, and communication skills.
  • Experience in supervising postgraduate students is considered favourably
