The Center for Health and Wellbeing (CHW), part of the Woodrow Wilson School, invites outstanding researchers to apply for appointments as Associate or more senior Research Scholars.
CHW supports research on the multiple aspects of health and wellbeing in both developed and developing countries. Successful candidates will devote their time at Princeton to research, discussions, and scholarly collaborations concerned with the determinants of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, and the effects of public policy on health and wellbeing. Applications are welcome from researchers in a variety of disciplines, including medicine, psychology, biology, epidemiology, economics, sociology, and related social science disciplines.
Associate Research Scholars participate in activities of CHW, including faculty-graduate seminars, workshops, and public lectures, and enjoy access to a wide range of other activities throughout the University. Scholars devote the major portion of their time to research and writing on issues related to health and wellbeing. Some Scholars may be invited to teach, contingent upon sufficient enrollments and with the approval of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. This is a 9-month term position, September through May.
Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent degree. The program is open to all regardless of citizenship, but it does not support work toward the completion of a degree. Associate Research Scholars are researchers who received a PhD or equivalent degree more than three years ago, and will not be employed at another institution during their stay at Princeton. Applicants who would like to visit from another institution should refer to CHW's advertisement for Visiting Research Scholars. Applicants who received their doctorate within the last three years should refer to the CHW advertisement for Postdoctoral Research Associates.
Applicants are evaluated on the basis of (1) the quality of their achievements in their field of specialization and their ability to benefit from the activities of CHW; (2) the significance of their proposed contribution to CHW's mission; and (3) the contribution they are likely to make to research in the future.
This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
