About the role

La Trobe University and Cisco have partnered to commit to a range of collaboration initiatives including input and advice into advanced networking and the Internet of Things (IoT) curriculum, interactive learning and teaching technologies, industry integrated learning, and professional development programs.

The inaugural Cisco Chair in Internet of Things will provide strategic leadership, foster a robust and innovative research culture and a high standard of teaching quality in Internet of Things.

Reporting to Head of School, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences the appointee will have strong industry links and the skills to represent and drive La Trobe and CISCO’s national and international (IoT) credentials to the Government, industry and media.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will bring an outstanding record of international achievement in academia, a breadth of academic vision, strategic thinking and demonstrated capacity to establish La Trobe University/Cisco as leading globally in (IoT).

A record of active, strong collaborative and sustainable relationships with industry and other external organisations coupled with sound management experience in building team cohesion, fostering, mentoring and supporting the development of others is essential.
