London South Bank University

Pro Vice-Chancellor Education

London South Bank University (LSBU) is a dynamic and enterprising university which is looking to the future with ambition and purpose. Proud of its pioneering mission and heritage, it is strongly connected to the communities it serves. As winner of the Times Higher Education Entrepreneurial University of the Year Award and the Sunday Times award of University of the Year for Graduate Employment two years in succession, LSBU is now one of London’s leading modern universities.

LSBU is part of LSBU Group. The Group serves over 35,000 learners and comprises LSBU (18,000 learners), South Bank Colleges (operating as Lambeth College, with 10,000 learners), a Multi Academy Trust (1,000), and the largest British education offer in the MENA region, with over 5,000 learners in Egypt. The Group also includes South Bank Enterprises, a commercial trading arm which offers training and employment offers related to the Group’s core mission.

Under the leadership of Professor David Phoenix, LSBU is an organisation that is fast becoming a university of choice for the new generation of students as it continues to develop new, creative and entrepreneurial approaches to teaching and learning. The University continues to grow its established and internationally regarded applied research, which underpins its 1,000 employer relationships, as well as feeds into the curriculum.

The newly created role of Pro Vice-Chancellor Education will lead on the development of the academic taught portfolio and student experience across the Group, as well as contributing to the strategic leadership delivery of LSBU’s vision and ambitions. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, they will play a leading role in the implementation of educational priorities and the transformation of all initiatives designed to improve student engagement and deliver an outstanding student experience. They will lead on enhancing the University’s reputation for teaching and learning at a national and international level.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of accomplishment, including delivering excellence and improvement across the breadth of the portfolio. They will have the credibility and requisite leadership and influencing skills to shape and deliver institutional performance; as well as a strong personal commitment to the diverse communities that LSBU serves.
