Job description

We are currently looking for an Events Coordinator to join the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) to assist in delivering transformational change in construction. Administered by Edinburgh Napier University, CSIC supports construction related businesses and key procurement players in the public and private sectors to build strong collaborative projects, supported by the Scottish academic and college base, to tackle construction industry challenges, stimulate growth and create new jobs.

Based at our unique Innovation Factory in Hamilton International Technology Park, CSIC has an exciting future ahead as we build our events and workshop programme together with our innovation support services and expand their delivery throughout Scotland.

The role is based in Hamilton and will require you to travel frequently to other locations throughout Scotland and occasionally within the UK/EU/Internationally.

The Role

As Events Coordinator, you will develop and deliver an inspirational and stimulating events programme throughout Scotland, including our annual Festival of Construction, which help support the innovative needs of construction related businesses and partners in both government and the public sectors to deliver positive economic impact and drive transformational change within the industry. Working in close collaboration with our marketing, business relationship, factory and future skills teams, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a varied events programme of c50 events per year in response to future opportunities and challenges that the construction industry faces, for example, digital transformation, industrialisation, sustainability and cultural change. Events will range from small workshop & CPD type events of approx. 10-20 delegates to larger conferences & international events for 250+ delegates.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of planning, developing, organising and hosting events - both independently & collaboratively with other organisations 
  • Experience of procuring and managing suppliers and contractors
  • Experience of delivering against targets and budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact and influence effectively and appropriately with internal and external contacts at all levels of seniority
  • Ability to work flexibly (as some travel, and occasional evening & weekend working will be required) and, at times under pressure, to meet deadlines and changing priorities.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience of proactively creating a differentiated or branded series of events targeted at business customers and then delivering these 
  • Experience of attracting sponsorship
  • An understanding of how Scotland and the UK's construction sector operates and its key challenges
