Job Description

The Operations Research & Statistics group of the United Arab Emirates University seeks to hire a research assistant / post-doctoral researcher for a period of 10 months from October 1st, 2019 till July 31st, 2020. The post-doctoral researcher is expected to collaborate in an ongoing funded research project on stochastic inventory management and optimization. The project investigates how to optimize dual sourcing inventory management policies under uncertainty and how to achieve coordination between different supply chain partners. The position is for a period of 10 months. The post-doctoral researcher will be closely working with three faculty members in Operations Research and Statistics: Dr. Younes Hamdouch, Prof. Kilani Ghoudi, and Dr. Youssef Boulaksil.

Minimum qualifications:

• A PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a related field;
• Expertise in mathematical modeling, analysis, and stochastic optimization;
• Research experience both in modeling and in applying heuristics and exact solution methods;
• Excellent programming skills (preferably Matlab);
• Ability to work both independently and within a team;
• Good verbal and written communication skills (English).

Salary and conditions:

This position is available for 10 months and will start per October 1st, 2019. The selected candidate will receive a net monthly salary of 14,000 AED (for each of the 10 months), which also includes the housing allowance.
