Salary is £17,682 to £19,133 per annum pro rata

Two positions available:

1. Part time, permanent role working 15 hours per week (M-T 3:45pm-10pm, Sat 10am-4:30pm with 1 hour break)
2. Part time, fixed term role up to 12 months, working 31 or 28 hours on alternate weeks (M-F 5pm-10pm, Sat 4pm-10pm with 1-hour break, Sun 11am-10pm (term time) or 11am-7pm (non-term time) with 1-hour break)

The team

Do you want to work with a dedicated, friendly team and gain experience of library and information work?  We are looking to recruit an Information Assistant to work on the Service Desk within our Customer Services Team.  The team provides a wide range of support services and a broad collection of electronic and print resources to staff and students.

The role

As a member of the Customer Services team, you'll use your enthusiasm, your positivity and your customer service skills to deliver an exceptional library service to our members. You will get involved in anything from helping our members find resources, to assisting with a wide range of enquiries. You will help to look after the physical space, and give outstanding customer service at all times.

Within the role, you will undertake a comprehensive staff training programme which covers all aspects of customer service. You will support staff and students on a wide range of courses and work in a variety of library work areas including front line customer service delivery, tours of the library, maintenance of resource collections, and basic IT support for customers.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience of working in a customer services environment, supporting users
• Basic experience and familiarity of working with IT systems

You will interact with a wide range of students, therefore good communication skills are essential, in addition to the ability to work using your own initiative.  The experience you will gain in this role is a great way to build on your skills and develop your potential.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 24 October and Friday 25 October in the afternoons.
