Job description

Queen's University Belfast is one of the prestigious Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities in the UK and Ireland, combining excellence in research and education with a student centred ethos, for our 24,000 students and 4,200 staff, funded through an annual turnover of some GBP 300m.  As a driver of innovation and talent, based on excellence and global strategic partnerships, we offer generous employment terms and underpinned by excellent lifestyle benefits including opportunities for family friendly working and support for wellbeing.

The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen's University Belfast is among the leading EEECS departments in the UK with over 80% of research judged to be internationally excellent or world leading.  We have over 200 staff members who teach, mentor, lead and conduct outstanding inter- and multi-disciplinary research drawn from the cornerstone of our future mission to enhance the way we use technology in communication, health services, data security and many other related areas.

You are invited to join EEECS at Queen's University Belfast!

The School wishes to recruit Professorial staff in Computer Science in the following areas of interest: Data Science, Computing Systems, Intelligent Systems and Software Engineering.  We invite applications to shape the vision for Computer Science within the school and to take leadership in its delivery.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they can lead a competitive sustainable research program that will complement the ongoing initiatives within the school and across the faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. They will also contribute to cutting edge educational programs within the school and contribute to the school's administration and outreach activity as applicable.

This recruitment is inclusive and applications are encouraged from candidates with diverse career paths and backgrounds, including those returning from a career break, family leave or working outside a research environment. We also welcome candidates who seek flexible working or fractional appointments.

The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity and to creating and sustaining an environment that values and celebrates the diversity of its staff and student body.  In particular, the School is committed to supporting the career progression of women in science, engineering and technology (SET) in line with the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter.
