CUHK Business School, a leading global business school in Hong Kong, seeks to appoint a high calibre candidate to the post of Functional Manager.

China Business Knowledge is the knowledge platform of CUHK Business School. Its aim is to promote and make accessible the top-notch research by the faculty to the academic, business and student communities. Reporting to the Administrative Director of Marketing and Communications, the Functional Manager is responsible for:
(i)    overseeing the direction and development of the China Business Knowledge platform, and keeping the platform up-to-date with current trends in publishing;
(ii)    building an excellent rapport and ongoing working relationships with academic staff and researchers, and identifying top-notch research by the faculty to be published on the platform;
(iii)    planning and editing all articles by the team before publishing and releasing on the website;
(iv)    coordinate the pagination of the bi-annual CUHK Business magazine, including selecting appropriate articles to be included;
(v)    monitoring the overall direction, traffic and reporting of social platforms’ activities of China Business Knowledge;
(vi)    monitoring and providing content for the publication of the monthly newsletters; and
(vii)    assisting in events held by the School. Working at flexible hours and travelling will also be required.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
(a)    a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, economics, communications, journalism, or linguistics;
(b)    a minimum of eight years of solid experience in editing/writing/publishing in a reputable news organisation or magazine publication;
(c)    excellent writing and editing skills in English to a professional level, good Chinese language ability is advantageous;
(d)    solid experience in copyediting, proofreading, fact-checking, imagery acquisition and development;
(e)    a keen interest in lengthy academic research and proven ability to turn academic writing to interesting and relatable content accessible to the public;
(f)    experience in staff supervision and management;
(g)    strong communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua an advantage; and
(h)    outstanding organisational, management and interpersonal skills.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
