The School of Accounting and Finance is the longest established accounting school in Hong Kong with around 90 full-time academic and teaching staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law.  The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has comparative advantage in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world.  The School has maintained an excellent network with overseas and Chinese mainland institutions for collaborative work. 

The research of our Faculty of Business has been ranked 61st in the world (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on research contributions for the period 2014-2018). During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Journal of Financial Economics.

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    conduct research as their main duty and actively pursue external research grants such as General Research Fund as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;

(b)    provide quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

(c)    supervise student projects; 

(d)    contribute to departmental service; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School and/or her delegates.


Applicants should:

(a)    have a PhD degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or Management Information; 

(b)    have a good record of relevant academic achievements;

(c)    have relevant research experience and interests in FinTech related areas;

(d)    demonstrate the ability to develop and teach data analytics (e.g. NLP in python);

(e)    have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly activities; and

(f)    have good communication skills and excellent command of English.
Preference will be given to those with research focusing on finance related areas such as capital market research.
