Stanford University is seeking a Director of Digital Media to be part of an integrated communications team that promotes and elevates the brand and reputation of Stanford School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care. Reporting to the Senior Director of Content Strategy, the director is tasked with developing and overseeing the execution of a comprehensive digital media communications strategy for the school and SHC. The director will oversee day-to-day production of content for the organizations’ 10+ social media channels; develop clear, engaging, and targeted messaging strategies for each channel based on unique audience needs and institutional priorities; and oversee an analytics program that monitors the performance of all digital content (including social posts, online news stories and press releases) and help guide content decisions based on results. The director will also develop and execute a content and information architecture strategy for the School of Medicine’s top-tier web pages.
- Direct and oversee execution of comprehensive social media strategy for the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care, which includes producing and managing content for numerous social media platforms, making decisions on which platforms would be most useful in conveying messages, overseeing the work of a team of social media and content producers, and pitching content to other social media producers and influencers in an effort to extend the reach of our messages and stories.
- Oversee an analytics program that monitors the performance of social posts, online news stories and press releases and helps guide content decisions based on results; and report to leadership how group’s work is helping meet institutional goals.
- Develop and execute a content and information architecture strategy for School of Medicine’s top-tier web pages (including its online news center), and use Adobe Experience Manager to manage these pages.
- Manage and/or work closely with managers of institution leaders’ social channels and ensure alignment of messaging across channels.
- Use a suite of tracking tools to monitor social media conversation on sensitive topics and recommend to leadership reputation-management tactics to blunt potentially negative discussion.
- Provide periodic counsel on social media strategy to stakeholders within the Stanford community, including faculty members, school and hospital leaders, and other communication professionals.
- Write and serve as back-up editor for Stanford Medicine’s award-winning blog; help create partnerships with outside organizations to ensure creation of engaging, original material; and formulate and execute strategies to increase readership.
- Perform misc. duties, including (but not limited to providing web content counsel to outside units, writing news stories or briefs, developing and executing promotion plans for major Stanford Medicine events, engaging with outside agencies on various projects and campaigns, fielding various priority requests from school and hospital leadership, and serving as member of university social media governance committee.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Advanced technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, and editing software.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the needs of the school/unit and to apply technical knowledge to fulfill the requirements.
