Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London is seeking to appoint a full-time Senior Tutor. Our students are foremost at Imperial College and the quality of pastoral care is paramount to the well-being of our students at Imperial College. As Senior Tutor your role is pivotal is leading the pastoral care support programme for our undergraduates and spearheading programmes aimed at supporting the transition from school to university.
The Chemistry Department at Imperial College comprises ca. 50 permanent academic staff who teach Chemistry to around 550 undergraduate students taking Chemistry BSc and MSci degree courses of 3-5 years duration (see: http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/chemistry). The Department has a worldwide reputation for excellence in both research and teaching. We are committed to delivering the best possible teaching and learning experience to our undergraduate students.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual who will have oversight of this pivotal role in the Department, leading the pastoral care programme and career development activities for our students.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
The Senior Tutor is responsible for managing the personal tutoring system in the department that operates across the South Kensington and White City Campuses, liaising with the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) to ensure that the roles of Personal Tutors fully support the degree programmes.
Essential requirements
You need a degree or equivalent level of vocational qualifications and or/work experience in psychology, education or other related fields. Experience of working in an educational environment, experience of pastoral care and student welfare as well as experience dealing with students with mental health issues are required.
