Position Focus:

The Full Stack Programmer Analyst 2 develops standalone and electronic medical records integrated web/mobile applications, develop data interfaces and programming APIs, independently collaborates with customers to understand application and data requirements.

The position is part of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, as an expansion of the Joint Data Analytics Team that provides research informatics support (including data extracts and analytics, web/mobile development) for researchers and research initiatives. Applicants are required to have experience developing full stack web/mobile application, preferably with JS or Python for backend and JS-framework (React,Vue) front end. In addition, the analyst is responsible for leveraging and/or developing application programming interfaces (APIs) according to healthcare specific s standards (HL-7, FHIR) and/or generic REST/GraphQL specification. The position requires a high degree of technical and analytical skills as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to acquire, transfer, develop and deliver accurate and meaningful healthcare data and information. Experience with hybrid or native mobile development is a plus. The analyst will be responsible for adhering to data compliance policies and communicating those with the researchers. Additionally, the analyst will be required to document projects and track project status in department systems.

Please note that the ideal candidate would be able to frequently travel to Hawley Lane Office in Stratford.

Essential Duties

  1. Develops programs or systems of small to moderate size and complexity. Modifies existing systems at all levels of difficulty.
  2. Provides informational input into decisions concerning the development and delivery of applications, programs and systems. Defines and analyzes requirements to meet the expectations of stakeholders and intended end users needs, scheduled timeline, and budgetary targets.
  3. Analyzes, defines and designs new systems and applications. Writes code in support of business solutions.
  4. Responsible for the creation, definition, communication, and management of project plans which includes architectural design, technology selection and methodologies to apply.
  5. Troubleshoots problems and provide ongoing maintenance and support for applications and systems.
  6. Prepares documentation, user manuals and develops formal proposals for new systems and modifications to existing systems. Mentors technical staff and provide training for end users.
  7. Contributes in the development of policies or modifications to exiting policies.
  8. Applies and keeps current with existing and emerging technologies and methodologies. Provides ongoing input to the establishment of programming standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in analysis and programming of small to medium scale systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to review customer requirements and translate into data extract strategies. Capable of developing creative solutions to complex problems. Desire to learn and ability to achieve Epic electronic health record certifications (training provided if not already certified).

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Exceptional IT/systems skillset. Full stack web/mobile developer. Required experience with ReactJS or VueJS for front-end development. Proficient with HTML5/CSS with preferred experience with any of preprocessing tools (for example SASS, LESS, SCSS). Required experience with back-end development.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Demonstrates regulatory compliance understanding. Ability to understand and communicate implications of federal regulations and university policies related to clinical research and data compliance. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Proficient at working in team environments as well as self-directed independent projects. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while balancing priorities and deadlines. Demonstrates leadership skills needed to successfully complete projects.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Demonstrates a high degree of customer service. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in written and verbal forms with internal and external contacts, faculty, researchers and staff at all levels

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree and Epic certification. Knowledge of clinical trial design, HIPAA regulations, secure coding practices and IRB requirements. Full stack web/mobile development experience, proficiency with SQL reporting. Working knowledge of HL7 FHIR. Experience with ES6, TypeScript, and NodeJS. Experience with mobile development frameworks (React Native, Vue Native, Xamarin or Cordova)

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

Experience using SQL or a programming language and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
