Position Description

The Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. We seek researchers who define and address fundamental and/or applied problems in biology or medicine, and who use quantitative experimental, computational, synthetic and/or theoretical approaches in their work.

The Department faculty have diverse backgrounds and interests in cell biology, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science, engineering and medicine. The successful candidate will become a member of Harvard University’s Ph.D. Program in Systems, Synthetic and Quantitative Biology, a cross-campus interdisciplinary program that attracts extraordinary graduate students.

The deadline for applications is October 31st, 2019. Interviews will occur in two phases, first over video conference (early December) and then in person (weeks of 10 Feb and 24 Feb 2020).

  • A Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or M.D. is required.

This should include three sections uploaded as one PDF: (1) a description of your most significant research accomplishments (length limit 300 words); (2) an explanation of why you have chosen this area of focus given current challenges and opportunities in your field (length limit 300 words); and (3) a description of your planned future research. Section 3 should describe both your plan for the initial focus of your lab and your long-term vision for your work, and should be at most 1500 words long, plus up to 1 page of figures (including figure legends). References do not count against the word limit.
