Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer (holding the title of Senior Social Worker and Training Officer / Clinical Psychologist and Training Officer) (2 posts) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 498585), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

The Department is conducting an elderly mental wellness project in collaboration with other NGO partners in community elderly services/mental health. It aims at developing a viable and sustainable best practice model to promote elderly mental wellness and prevent elderly depression in Hong Kong. The appointees will have ample opportunities to work with Social Workers and other mental health professionals, as well as stakeholders in the local community.

(1) Research Officer (holding the title of Senior Social Worker and Training Officer)

Applicants should possess a Master's degree or above in Social Work with registration as Registered Social Worker in Hong Kong; at least 3 years' supervision experience; proficiency in written and oral communication in Cantonese and English; experience in working with mental health and/or geriatric population; and the ability to work independently and as a team.  Post-qualification experience in the provision of training and teaching would be an advantage.

The appointee will work as clinical leader to provide supervision/training to Social Workers; assist in developing evidence-based treatment approach/protocols; liaise with different NGO partners to facilitate the implementation of the service model and perform other tasks as assigned.  

(2) Research Officer (holding the title of Clinical Psychologist and Training Officer)

Applicants should possess a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from a local university or equivalent; proficiency in written and oral communication in Cantonese and English; experience in working with mental health and/or geriatric population; and the ability to work independently and as a team. Those with training in social work and/or experience in the provision of training and teaching are preferred.

The appointee will provide supervision/training to social workers; develop training programmes and assist in training peer supporters; develop treatment programmes and provide therapy to clients; assist Project Directors in managing, coordinating, and implementing ongoing research projects on the development of sustainable elderly mental health services; and perform other tasks as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
