A Research Assistant (Personally Responsive Information Analysis Project) is sought to work on a project examining decision-making of emergency planners and developing artificial intelligence approaches to the filtering of real-time information at the user interface. This project is a collaboration between a local SME and the University and is funded by the Defence and Science Technology Laboratory.

You will support this project during the data collection phase and are required to run a bespoke experimental protocol in the laboratory.  In addition to the usual competencies required by a research assistant, e.g. scheduling participants, managing data storage, it is desirable if you are highly competent in MATLAB and real-time data processing, specifically with respect to fNIRS (functional near-infrared spectroscopy). The work will be conducted in the School of Psychology located at the Byrom Street campus of LJMU.

This is a fixed-term position for three months and you must be able to take up the post by the 1st October 2019 at the latest.

Informal enquiries may be made to the Principal Investigator, Professor Stephen Fairclough, email: or telephone: 0151 904 6311.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
