The Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary University of London is looking to recruit an Engagement and Impact Manager to work on their Wellcome Trust Humanities and Social Science Collaborative Award: ‘Living With Feeling: Emotional Health in History, Philosophy, and Experience’. The award, which began in September 2015, supports an ambitious programme of inter-disciplinary research and public engagement into the history and meanings of ‘emotional health’.

As Engagement and Impact Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful planning, delivery, and implementation of the engagement work of the project, working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Project Manager, and the project team. You will plan and implement initiatives promoting historically informed visions of emotional health to a range of professional and public audiences. This will include devising and delivering methods for the collection of evidence of impact for the purposes of REF impact case studies, including working with the team on the launch of a new website, a series of podcasts, and an exhibition on the theme of nursing and emotions.

You will hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience/qualification) and will have experience of organising events, and of supporting and evaluating public engagement activities in the arts, sciences, or both. As a skilled communicator, you will be able to respond to emails in a clear, professional and prompt manner.

Competence in online communication including social media and using WordPress to edit and maintain blog and website would be desirable.

The post will start on 15 October 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter, and end on 14th October 2020. Starting salary will be in the range of £34,220 - £35,144 per annum pro rata inclusive of London Allowance, subject to experience. The post is part time (0.5 fte or 2.5 days per week), however, consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work on a different part-time or more flexible basis (please state preference in application).

Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Thomas Dixon at t.m.dixon@qmul.ac.uk.
