DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Research Assistant Professor in Neuromodulation (Ref. 19090908)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supported with cutting-edge researches on rehabilitation engineering, biomedical imaging and biosensing, and biological engineering.  Our innovative research and development from cell (micro) to human motion (macro) have not only led to scientific discoveries but also generated successful knowledge transfers. We are now developing rehabilitation programmes for patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) and brain injury using neuromodulation techniques and looking for an experienced researcher to work with us in this area.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    undertake research and development in the area related to rehabilitation of spinal cord injury and brain injury patients using different neuromodulation techniques, and in other related areas; 

(b)    undertake teaching duties at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels;

(c)    assist in research, programme/curriculum development and administration;

(d)    supervise student projects and thesis; 

(e)    contribute to departmental activities; and 

 (f)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates. 

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a PhD degree in a related discipline plus at least 4 years of postdoctoral research experience in related areas;

(b)    have proven research track record in the related areas with strong publication record;

(c)    have teaching and student supervision experience;

(d)    have a good network with international researchers to build collaborative research; and 

(e)    be a good team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.
 
Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Appointment for Research Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
